How to Make a Slimline Card with a Gift! Inside (Chocolate, Cocoa, Gift Card Etc.

Slimline cards are apparently all the rage. It's fun to give someone a card that they may think is all business based on size, but then, they open the envelope and it's something FUN!

Here's a slimline card idea that turns your card into a little gift. In this video, I put a Hershey bar inside, but you could also put a gift card or small envelope inside, such as hot cocoa or soup. You could also put a few coupons you make...like "This coupon entitles the bearer to _____."

Template

What I'm showing you here is the template for the holder. You may decorate the card as you wish.

Slimline Cards

Starting Paper Dimensions:

I've seen a few different dimensions for slimline cards, but this one starts with a piece of paper that's 8 1/2 by 9. This means you cut a 2 inch slice off the long side of your card stock.

Layer

If you're matting and layering, you'll want your layer to be either 8.25 by 3.25 or 8 by 3.

Score

Score the longer (9-inch) side at
  • 2 inches
  • 5 1/2 inches

Fold

Fold all creases.

Flap

Your flap is 8.5 by 2, so if you want to layer, make it 8.25 by 1.75.

I like to glue the edges of the flap so the bar /gifty doesn't slip out.

Final Card

Your card will be 7 x 3.5 with a flap of 2 inches to hold in the gifty.

I just gave one to my postmaster and one to my mail carrier. They felt so loved and appreciated! Let me know if you make this card.

Cheers to your BLISSful Life!
