Stinkin' Inkers October Card Challenge: Shades of Fall - Hello

This is a card for the Stinkin' Inkers October card challenge, Shades of Fall.

I'm not sure where the flower stamp came from, but any flower or larger image will work here. It's all about the colors. I used King Art and Tombow brush markers for the coloring, and I lettered hello with a black pen and went over it in a golden yellow.

This could be a CAS (clean and simple) card if I hadn't made it a layer, but I like a border. Maybe my next one will be CAS.

If If you like handmade journals and cards, stop by my Etsy shop, Bliss Butterfly Studio.

Stinkin' Inkers September Card Challenge: Times 3 - Birds of a Feather Flock Together card

Hello, crafty people! Here is a fun card for the Stinkin' Inkers September card challenge, Times 3.

The times 3 challenge invites you to use 3 of any element, such as shape, bauble, or image.

This card features 3 birds from an ATC stamp set. I used King Art and Tombow brush pens for the coloring.

I put the birds on a wire that I drew so they weren't floating in nothingness. I'm sure this will be a fun card for a friend to receive.

If you'd like to buy any of my cards, I invite you to go to my Bliss Butterfly Studio Etsy Shop.

How to Make a Slimline Card with a Gift! Inside (Chocolate, Cocoa, Gift Card Etc.

Slimline cards are apparently all the rage. It's fun to give someone a card that they may think is all business based on size, but then, they open the envelope and it's something FUN!

Here's a slimline card idea that turns your card into a little gift. In this video, I put a Hershey bar inside, but you could also put a gift card or small envelope inside, such as hot cocoa or soup. You could also put a few coupons you make...like "This coupon entitles the bearer to _____."

Template

What I'm showing you here is the template for the holder. You may decorate the card as you wish.

Slimline Cards

Starting Paper Dimensions:

I've seen a few different dimensions for slimline cards, but this one starts with a piece of paper that's 8 1/2 by 9. This means you cut a 2 inch slice off the long side of your card stock.

Layer

If you're matting and layering, you'll want your layer to be either 8.25 by 3.25 or 8 by 3.

Score

Score the longer (9-inch) side at
  • 2 inches
  • 5 1/2 inches

Fold

Fold all creases.

Flap

Your flap is 8.5 by 2, so if you want to layer, make it 8.25 by 1.75.

I like to glue the edges of the flap so the bar /gifty doesn't slip out.

Final Card

Your card will be 7 x 3.5 with a flap of 2 inches to hold in the gifty.

I just gave one to my postmaster and one to my mail carrier. They felt so loved and appreciated! Let me know if you make this card.

Cheers to your BLISSful Life!

Ink Card Challege Adventure Card

This adventure card is inspired by the ink Card challenge and my love of hot air balloons. Enjoy the adventure!

I had some random piece of cardstock with "enjoy" on it. I lettered the adventure. The hot air balloon is a thicker, a dimensional sticker. I love hot air balloons, and I love all the glitter on it.

I hope you like the card! Thank you for stopping by.

This Sucks Greeting Cards Now Available in Bliss Butterfly Studio Etsy Shop

There's no denying it's been a difficult year! This card is a good one to send to someone who's over it and needs a lift. This set of 4 cards comes with a variety of sentiments that go with "This sucks."

  • put an out of order sticker on your forehead and call it a day.
  • %*@&#?
  • "Well that didn't go as planned" Life
  • But you don't need bail money and there isn't a body count, So...it could be worse.

Greeting card reading "This sucks - Put an out of order sticker on your forehead and call it a day"

While I'm a huge believer in hope and positivity, it's also important to acknowledge that everything isn't always rosy ad getting better.

Round Noel Bell Card for Christmas Craft Creations Shaped Card Challenge

For those of us who make, it's definitely time to craft holiday essentials.

This shaped card is for the Christmas Craft Creations September challenge

The challenge is to make a shaped card, and I thought round would be fun First, have a look at the finished card, then I'll talk technque.

Here are the supplies I used.

We R Memory Keepers Precision Press. This is the early version. I was reminded why I don't like it as well as the newer one, but I wanted to play with it, since it's been a while. I like it much better for stencils, which you can attach to it via the stencil holder. It's really great for that. For the stamping, it lacks the magnetic platform and magnets period and washi just never seems to hold the card down properly.

Aleene's Tacky Glue is my adhesive of choice for this card. I like to have a minute to get something in place in case I don't get it quite right on the first go.

Ink: I used metallic ink, but you certainly don't have to.

Circle Dies: I'm not sure where the circle dies are from but there isn't anything particularly spectacular about them. If you put the edge just slightly off your paper, you will get a folded card that is in the shape of your die. It really doesn't matter what shape it is, as long as you can make it work to have enough stability when someone opens and shuts the card.

Crafter's Companion Beautiful Baubles: This is a stamp and die set, but I only used 1 of the bell dies and 2 of the sentiments for this card. I got mine from HSN.

Card Stock: I used black, white, and red. I'm not one to tell you "do it just this way," so do as you like. I love this deep red paper, so perfect for a Christmas card. I honestly don't know where that came from because a friend gave me this hodgepodge stack of paper and that was in it. For the base card, I used black cardstock and put a piece of the red over it so that the top would have the full circle and not the nicked Edge circle.

I cut out a white circle just slightly smaller for the writing surface on the inside because it's just too hard to write on black and be able to see it. I mean how many people have white pens? My
The sentiments and the bell are from Crafters companion. I got a set of layered stamps with coordinating dies period in this case, I only used the top layer of the bell. I know it doesn't make a full bell, but I really love the effect!.

Assembly

For the beginner card-maker, here are the steps I typically take when making a card. I like to do several, or at least two, at a go and set things up in stages.

1. Die cut: I like to cut all my pieces and set it all up assembly-line style.
2. Stamp: I like to stamp my elements before affixing them. That way, if there's an ink catastrophe, I can just cut another bit of card. It's only paper, after all, but who wants to mess up a half-or-fully-formed card?
3. Glue layers: I made a full red circle so you don't have that nicked-off bit where the card folks visible. I wanted an absolutely round card in the end. So, once the cutting and stamping are done, just poop everything together.

I will be able to use my we are memory Keepers envelope guide to make an envelope of the appropriate size to fit this card. I didn't measure it but I think it's about 4 in.

I will be adding it to the challenge list and I might make a couple of other shaped cards. We're allowed to do up to three of them. I hope you will check out the rest of the challenge posts!

Cheers to your blissful life!
